Israel and Jordan

Pioneer Tours and Travel’s central focus is the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ and the scriptures.  Our goal is to help you have a greater experience as you ponder both the Old and New Testaments.  Visit sites such as the Valley of Elah (David and Goliath) along with the places our Savior and His apostles walked the earth 2,000 years ago.

Days 1-2

Depart US and Arrive in Jordan

These days will be mostly filled with traveling and arriving at our destination.

Day 3

Jerash, Mt. Nebo, Madaba, Red Sea

Jerash - Jordan’s largest and interesting Roman site. Lined with colonnaded avenues, theatres, and temples even the most casual fan of archaeology will enjoy.

Mount Nebo - The traditional Site where Moses viewed the Promised Land. You will be able to view the Promised Land as did Moses 3300 years ago.

Day 4

Wadi Rum, Petra

Wadi Rum - Desert wilderness with prehistoric carvings. Experience a jeep ride and a camel ride if you desire.

Petra - One of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Capital of the Nabataen Kingdom at the time of Christ. Place where Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade was filmed. Accessed by a narrow canyon called Al Sig, it contains tombs and other structures carved into the pink sandstone.

Day 5

Border Crossing, Caesarea, Hadera Beach

Caesarea - Harbor and city built by Herod the Great

Day 6

Mt. Carmel, Aqueduct, Megiddo, Nazareth

Mt. Carmel - Breathtaking view of the Jezreel Valley from the place where Elijah Challenged the priests of Baal.

Aqueduct - Built by Herod to provide fresh water to Caesarea.

Megiddo - A strategic city in biblical history. A fortress city to King Solomon.

Nazareth Village - Open air museum that reconstructs and reenacts the village life in Galilee in the time of Jesus.

Day 7

Mt. of Beattitudes, Capernaum, Tabgha, St. Peter's Fish, Boat Ride

Mt. of Beattitudes - Experience the word from the Sermon on the Mount. Visit the church with an octagonal dome that represents the 8 Beattitudes.

Capernaum - Where Jesus based about 18 months of His ministry. Stand within the foundations of the synagogue where he preached. The town where He recruited His first disciples.

Tabgha - Tradition site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes.

Boat Ride - Experience a peaceful boat ride on the Sea of Galilee

Day 8

Sepphoris, Banias, Yardenit

Yardenit - Located on the Jordan River.

Banias - A pagan city dedicated to the god Pan. Reconstructed by Philip a son of Herod.

Sepphoris - Chosen by Herod Antipus as he provincial capital. Most likely Joseph and Jesus helped build the city – located near Nazareth.Where Jesus declared Peter the rock upon which He would build His church.

Day 9

Jericho, Qumran, Masada, Dead Sea.

Dead Sea - Float in the salty waters.

Qumran - Site where The Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Inhabited by the Essenes at the time of Christ.

Day 10

Bethlehem, Caiphas' Palace, Upper Room

Bethlehem - The place of the birth of Christ. The Church of the Nativity is the oldest continually functioning church in the world.

Caiphas’ Palace - Place where Jesus was held after gethsemane and before Roman trial.

Upper Room - Site believed by many to be the site of the Last Supper.

Day 11

Mt. Moriah, St. Anne, Judgement Hall

Mt. Moriah - Visit the exterior of the famous shrine called the Dome of the Rock.

St. Anne - Crusader Church located beside the Pools of Bethesda.

Day 12

Gethsemane, Garden Tomb, Bethany, Hyde Park

Garden Tomb - The site believed by most to be the tomb where Christ was buried where the stone was rolled back.

Bethany - Explore the home where the miracle of Lazarus took place.

Hyde Park - Located on the Mt. of Olives near Gethsemane. Feel the peace as you ponder the events that took place here nearly 2000 years ago.

Day 13

Western Wall, Western Wall Tunnels, City of David

Day 14

Free Day, Valley of Elah, Farewell Dinner.

Valley of Elah - David, while fighting for the God of Israel, fought Goliath here.
